Jane Corsellis (b.1940)

Jane Corsellis studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London. She was awarded the Leverhulme Scholarship and the final year Painting Prize. While still a student she exhibited at the Young Contemporaries Exhibition and at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

After leaving the Byam Shaw in 1962 she painted for a year in Spain before returning to teach for two years. During the 70s and 80s she spent time in Hong Kong, Ottawa and Kuala Lumpur having solo exhibitions in each city. While living in Kuala Lumpur she visited and painted in India, Thailand, Bali and Australia.

In 1991 she returned with her family to their house in Notting Hill, London, also spending part of the year in Pembrokeshire where she has had a house and studio, since she was a child. She makes frequent painting trips to France, Italy and Austria, and now lives overlooking the River Thames at Strand on The Green in Chiswick.
