Hubert Wellington (1879-1967)

Painter and teacher born the son of a printer in Gloucester who attended Gloucester School of Art, 1895-97, Birmingham School of Art, 1898-99 and at the Slade School, 1899-1900.

He exhibited his work at the New English Arts Club, the Royal Academy and the London Group - the Tate Gallery holds one of his many early Cotswold scenes and a work is held by the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

His first solo show was at Agnew's in 1963. Abbott and Holder exhibited his landscape paintings in a 1996 show.
