Alethea Garstin (1894-1978)

Generally modest in scale, Alethea Garstin's work is characterised by its freedom, lightness and sure sense of colour and composition. Time and again she produced a bold statement on a small board. And although she travelled widely - taking in Africa, Australia and the West Indies - West Cornwall remained her chief artistic focus.
