Rose Hilton (1931-2019)

A Cornish painter, she attended the Royal College of Art in London. She was married to the artist Roger Hilton who actively discouraged her artistic practice. After his death in 1975 she started painting again. Her work is visible influenced by the French artists Pierre Bonnard and Henri Matisse. A retrospective of her work was held at Tate St Ives in 2008.
