John Bratby, RA (1928-1992)

John Bratby studied at the Royal College of Art from 1951-1954 and only three years after he left returned there as a tutor. In the late 1950s he became famous as a ‘Kitchen Sink’ artist, painting the realities of everyday life in a colourful palette with a simplicity, which suited his subject.

He was elected RA in 1971 and his work is held in a great many public and private collections.
