Works from the Estate of David Crane (1933-2017)

From the 1960s onwards David Crane was a regular visitor to St Ives, along with his wife Kate. Over the course of 30 years they became friends with many of the artists who lived and worked there. They often acquired works direct from the artists.

As a keen photographer, David Crane frequently recorded his visits to the artists’ studios, which resulted in a large collection of insightful portraits of artists of this period working in St Ives. The family have recently donated this collection of photographs to Tate Britain.
