Brill was born and raised in London. He studied under Henry Tonks at the Slade School, 1921-4 and later at St. Martin’s School of Art. After winning the Prix de Rome for painting, he studied there at the British School, 1927-9. He lived in Lavenham, East Anglia and exhibited there as well as in London at the RA and The Leicester Galleries. He taught art and became principal of Kingston School of Art. His work is held by the Tate Gallery, London.
