Frank Brangwyn, RA (1867-1956)
Stacks Image 48
Originally born in Belgium, Brangwyn was a well travelled artist. While he appears to have had little in the way of formal education the influence of his architect father and his work in the William Morris business (from 1882-4) seem to have set him in the right direction. Brangwyn’s work was wide ranging from drawings to paintings, book illustrations to murals. Notably he painted the mural decorations for Skinner’s Hall, 1904-9 and later (1932) those at the Rockefeller Centre, New York. He exhibited prolifically, in particular at The Fine Art Society and RA.
